Cusum Charts for Local Statistics and for the Simultaneous Monitoring of Many Regions

In the previous chapter, cumulative sum (cusum) methods for detecting change (introduced in Chapter 7) were combined with global spatial statistics (introduced in Chapter 3) to monitor changes in spatial patterns. We begin this chapter by turning our focus to local spatial statistics (introduced in Chapter 4), where we describe how cusum methods may be used to monitor changes in the spatial pattern of events occurring around a predefined location of interest.
