ABSTRACT
IMMEDIATE MANAGEMENT Topical therapy • Leg elevation, preferably as bed rest. • Gentle leg compression with elasticated,
tubular bandages.
Systemic therapy • Adequate analgesia. • Treatment should be directed to managing
the underlying disorder. • If an infective trigger has been excluded
or treated then oral corticosteroids can be given to settle symptomatic EN (e.g. prednisolone 20-30 mg daily reducing with response).
