ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the Knowledge Grid system, an open-source environment for designing and running distributed knowledge discovery in databases (KDD) applications as workows. e chapter describes the Knowledge Grid’s service-oriented architecture, outlines how soware and data resources are modeled in the system, describes the DIS3GNO tool for composing KDD workows in the Knowledge Grid, and explains how such workows are executed on a Grid platform.
