ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses some examples of distributed knowledge discovery applications implemented in the Knowledge Grid and the Weka4WS frameworks as workows of services. e examples discussed in this chapter show how a set of distributed data mining tasks are developed and run as a collection of services cooperating according to the service-oriented architecture (SOA) model. e applications presented here demonstrate the eectiveness of the service-oriented approach for distributed knowledge discovery, as well as the performance improvements deriving from their execution on a Grid environment.
