ABSTRACT
The theories developed elsewhere in this book are for saturated and unstructured soils. Near ground level soil may be unsaturated especially in hot dry regions and near vegetation. Soils are often weakly bonded. Soils deposited from water often contain layers of coarser and finer grains.
