ABSTRACT
Like earlier chapters, this one does not tell you everything that an engineer needs to know about money, finance, accounting, and investment decisions. Instead, it is here only to raise your awareness on some important issues for your career. The real learning will come when you talk with other people in your organisation and start to see how these issues influence your own engineering work. Read this chapter and then start to ask questions on related issues that affect your organisation. If you find you need more detailed knowledge, there are many books on engineering management that cover these issues in much more detail.1
