ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights a number of innovative applications of C-H functionalization of various substrates using palladium catalysis. As the eld continues to experience diverse and expansive growth, methods continue to be developed through frontier areas toward the realization of the carbon-hydrogen bond serving as a unique functional group for the preparation of advanced synthons. Signicant efforts in this area have been undertaken to provide expeditious access to functionalized synthons from simple starting materials. Recent reviews have highlighted important advances in the areas of computational,1 oxidation,2 site-selectivity,3 cross-coupling,4 synthetic work,5 medicinal chemistry,6 and the construction of heterocycles7 utilizing Pd-mediated C-H functionalization.
