ABSTRACT

The ability of the FE model described in Chapter 4 to produce realistic predictions of structural behaviour under short-term static (both monotonic and cyclic) loading has been demonstrated in Chapter 5. Through a comparative study of the model’s predictions with the results of shake-table tests on a number of typical RC structural forms (columns, frames, walls, etc.), this chapter is intended to show that the modifications implemented in Chapter 6 resulted in a stable numerical scheme capable of also producing realistic predictions of structural response under seismic excitation.
