ABSTRACT

The hydraulic projects (HPs) includes a complex of hydraulic structures (HS), the purpose of which is to use a water flow to generate electricity, water supply, irrigation, and water transport, as well as flood protection. HS must meet safety requirements, ensure normal operating conditions, and have the ability to control their condition during construction and operation. The needs of practice require new, more effective solutions that can be found in a constant engineering search, taking into account the peculiarities and the variety of natural conditions of HS. The choice of layout is a complex integrated engineering task related to the multifactorial nature and variety of initial conditions, many of which vary over time and are of an uncertain or probabilistic nature. The geological conditions of the structures’ foundation and banks’ seismic conditions must meet the requirements of reliable and safe operation of head and other structures of the HP.
