ABSTRACT

In traditional project management, a user request comes in for work. If the work is substantial, if the funds and resources are available, and if there is support from the business for the project, then a project leader is identified to create a project plan. After some time, the plan is approved, a project team is formed, and work begins. It all seems so straightforward and standard. Yet, read between the lines and you can see why many IT projects are doomed to fail from the start and why others never achieve their expectations or goals.
