ABSTRACT
If several symptoms co-occur reliably the most simple explanation is that they are caused by the same underlying deficit. Impairments in socialization, communication and imagination cohere (Wing & Gould 1979). It has been suggested that a single cognitive deficit could underlie these three diverse features of autism.
