ABSTRACT

Behaviour management as discussed in this text is described in the following way: quite simply, behaviour management means just that, the management of behaviour. The term itself implies a relationship to behaviourism which, in a sense, is true. However, in practise it means more than a behaviourist style of intervention, it also means that any approach or appropriate therapy can be applied to certain difficulties as long as it is managed so that it is effective to the problem. In education, the management of behaviour is most often seen as a programme of positive intervention. It could just as easily mean the management of art therapy as a way of intervening or adding to a solution to a problem. Including art therapy in an overall programme of intervention might be seen as a possibility. It would then be said to be part of a management programme.
