ABSTRACT

Delivery speed is certainly an important measure that affords easy comparison among service providers. It is useful to managers analyzing the efficiency of office staff. It can be used as a signal of an overload and should be part of any review of delivery services.2 Average turnaround, and length of time to receipt are part of the monthly statistical reports provided by OCLC and Research Libraries Group interlibrary loan subsystems, respectively. Such figures are evidence that delivery speed is considered important in the evaluation of reciprocal services. Recent studies of document delivery vendors have also focused on delivery speed, comparing vendor claims and library performance.3
