ABSTRACT

By definition, a single-session group is a group whose first meeting is also its last. Although it might be composed of many members or go on for several hours and thus share some characteristics of a very-large group or a longer-term group, for purposes of examining implications for practice it has been conceptualized here as a closed

“smallish” system (three to eight members) that meets for a brief rather than long or marathon amount of time (one to three hours).
