ABSTRACT
For many years, the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools have promulgated standards for law schools to ensure that the quality of legal education meets minimum requirements. Institutions that do not meet these standards are not accredited by the associations, making their programs undesirable in most parts of the country where graduation from an accredited school is one of the requirements for practicing law. Among the standards of the ABA and AALS are standards relating to the law library. These standards relate to the physical plant, print and non-print collections, and staff and institutional support of the library.
