ABSTRACT

While elements of this perspective have already been addressed in the first six chapters of this book, the argument that religion is a potential tool for policy makers has been treated as part of a larger picture where religion also has an independent influence. The theoretical perspectives discussed in this chapter perceive religion as a dependent variable rather than an independent one. That is, they look at religion primarily as something that is not an independent influence on society and politics.
