ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a definition of developmental co-ordination disorder and looks at estimates of its prevalence. I consider possible causal factors. The chapter examines developmental processes considered to underpin developmental co-ordination disorder (gross and fine motor co-ordination, and perceptual-motor development). I look at ways of assessing developmental co-ordination disorder. Turning to provision the chapter outlines aspects of the curriculum; pedagogy; resources; therapy/care and organisation.
