ABSTRACT

This chapter will sum up the presentation and show how to describe and understand the developments in recent years in research and knowledge on happiness. It will conclude by arguing that studies of happiness are important for the development of the good society, how the concept can be used to increase our knowledge in central social sciences disciplines, and how they can then better enable us to understand present-day societies. It will also highlight what might still be missing in the analysis and use of the concept of happiness.
