ABSTRACT

No other event of the Vietnam War evokes more memories or emotions. It was the battle which defined the war more than any other. It was the ‘turning point,’ the event that broke America’s will to continue the war. Before Tet, America was prepared to stop the encroachment of communism into South Vietnam. After Tet, America planned its withdrawal and gave notice to South Vietnam that the war was theirs to win or lose. America had reached the limits of its intervention.2
