ABSTRACT
This we sincerely declare because the art of building was born of necessity, and need was the first to fashion a shelter; whence even the most barbaric peoples of America had some sort of houses in which to shelter themselves from the inclemencies of the weather; thus men’s first purpose in building was to minister to their needs, and to find in their buildings their own comfort.
