ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 focussed upon the experience of loss and bereavement within clients through academic work and the use of story-telling as a way of enhancing understanding of these processes. Clients can often find themselves struggling to cope with their losses and grief and this chapter underlines the importance of therapeutically holding clients whilst they explore, process and begin to understand their loss. In this chapter integrative interventions are presented from the perspective of PCT, CBT, relational and hypnotherapeutic modalities that provide insights into loss and bereavement. A broad range of integrative techniques for working with clients experiencing loss and/or bereavement is included which can also be tailored towards therapists.
