ABSTRACT
Once something has been preceived and registered, it will be recognized at the next encounter. This recognition is possible in every sensory modality: We recognize something seen, but also a melody, a perfume, a taste, the touch of velvet. This recognition is immediate, and brings with it a sense of familiarity.
