ABSTRACT

It is currently popular to say that the Middle East is running out of water. Doomsday analyses of not enough water, too many uses for, and misuse of water lead to the prognosis that there will be a total destruction of the resource. It is even argued, and is intuitively plausible, that water is the heart of the conflict generally between states in the Middle East and specifically between Israel and its neighbors. The next war in the Middle East will be caused by water, so it is said; terms like “Rivers of Fire” sum it up. Very dramatic, but is there any truth in such perspectives?
