Queen Margrethe II became the Queen of Denmark in 1972. The Danish Royal House can be traced back to Gorm the Old and his son Harald I Bluetooth. Gorm the Old became King of Denmark around the year 916. The two great lines of the Danish Royal House are the House of Oldenborg and the House of Glücksborg.
