ABSTRACT
Continuing from Chapter 6, this chapter examines the third and fourth Rs of Sarvodaya’s 5R stages, which are Relief, Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reconciliation and Reawakening. The two Rs, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation, are analysed in this chapter in relation to the Consciousness and Power spheres of Sarvodaya’s Three-Sphere Model consisting of Consciousness, Economics and Power. The chapter elaborates on Sarvodaya’s use of the spiritual concept of tolerance during its post-tsunami rebuilding process for the rehabilitation and reconciliation of the three main ethnic groups who are in conflict in Sri Lanka – the Muslim, Tamil and Sinhalese communities.
