ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the role of religion in diasporic identities, in particular, of the Muslims. The key question of this chapter is: What is the relationship between migration, globalization, and religious practice? The chapter will show that for many Bangladeshi Muslims, Islam is important in many ways (e.g. from the point of view of ‘community,’ and in terms of their relationship with ‘there’). They stick to the basic principles and values, but they do not seem to be especially devout and are certainly not ‘radicalized.’ I will show what it means to be a Muslim living in the USA in the post-9/11 era.
