ABSTRACT

Is there a simple, universal way to work with dreams? This was the guiding question in a qualitative research study into the common factors currently in use in clinical dreamwork. The in-depth survey of two texts covering major modern dreamwork methods yielded a surprising result: that the field has moved away from dream interpretation and embraced experiential exploration of dreams. Other common factors, include exploration of setting, asking into associations, exploring metaphorical connections, and gleaning new insights and growth steps. This chapter provides a list of all the most common dreamwork techniques in use today, as well as a brief explanation of each.
