ABSTRACT
Many attempts have been made to revise psychoanalysis. The attachment model, a major revision developed by John Bowlby, is the one version of analytic theory that has earned strong empirical support, and has gradually come to dominate the thinking of many psychoanalysts. One of the most important merits of this model is that it is empirically testable. However, the theory also suffers from some important limitations.
