ABSTRACT

Even though they are not a matter of life and death, sports do matter. Sports help people psychologically, physically, and socially. Sports serve to bring people with shared interests together. They can be an escape for someone during a difficult time. Sport psychologists are people who help those involved in athletics thrive from a performance, emotional, and enjoyment perspective. Some problems in athletics are purely performance based, some are psychological, and many are some combination of the two. The skilled performance specialist can identify the root of an athlete’s problems and help them work to resolve them. This book is based on my experiences in helping athletes in a range of sports and stages of development. This book is kept short so that it is can be used easily and repeatedly as needed.
