ABSTRACT
In 1947 a fishing boat, the Poor Poppy, exploded at sea, killing all aboard. The intention of the businessman who had placed the bomb was to murder his wife in order to marry his mistress. At the last moment, the wife failed to board; the father of a pugnacious little girl about to celebrate her sixth birthday did. 1
