ABSTRACT

The poem follows the Parlement as the last item in BL MS. Addit. 31042, fols. 176b–181b, a large anthology including the Siege J, romances and religious works; see Stern (1976), and J. J. Thompson, The London Thornton Manuscript (Woodbridge, 1987). The scribe, Robert Thornton, a country gentleman from East Newton in Yorks, also copied another large collection, Lincoln Cath. Lib. MS. 91, which includes Morte A and Awntyrs. Both mss. date from c. 1425–50.
