ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter briefly surveys the history and context of the Hamas–Fatah struggle for power in Palestine and offers an overview of the chapters ahead. It discusses the key events and incidents that impacted the course of the conflict and the failed efforts at reconciliation to highlight major political shifts in the region.
