ABSTRACT

In the historical process of the development of human society, social mobility has shown a trend of expansion. Social mobility in contemporary China also exhibits the characteristics of the dual transformation of society and institutions. China went through continuous political movements, drastic economic changes, and frequent changes of social policies. The occupational structure in China is gradually moving towards one with higher skilled and status levels. The level of the occupational structure in China will have a leap-forward rise, and the middle stratum in the Chinese society will also have a leap-forward expansion. It is worth noting that while China’s social structure is opening up, there have also emerged unfavorable tendencies. China’s fiscal revenue has exceeded 2 trillion yuan. Social mobility mechanisms of a modern society must be fair and treat all members of society equally in the attainment of personal status without using ascribed origin of birth and ethnicity as conditions.
