ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author uses his job training story in Australia to engage with the data collected in 2018, four years after the participants graduated from Australian universities. This chapter focuses on the post-study lives and the use of Australian experiences in career development. Based on Bourdieu's field struggles, his notion of habitus is further developed into three notions: habitus modification, habitus extension and habitus improvisation. In each notion, the author uses the participants' data to explain the causal effect between their Australian experiences and the habitus development. More interestingly, he elucidates more on the roles of these overseas study-turned habitus developments in their field struggles.
