ABSTRACT

The second implicit claim, that the research extends the efforts of a disciplinary community but is sufficiently distinct from previous work to merit publication, is supported in the second division. Attention to detail in this division also demonstrates that the data are reliable or that the proposed solution is feasible, thus the main component supporting this claim is called research details. The type of details presented varies considerably based on both the field of research and the research methodology. Since this is the longest and most important division of an IPTC paper, the order of this division usually determines the order of the Testing division, whereas in IMRD format the sequence chosen for reporting the data in the Results division drives the order of the rest of the paper. Other differences between the formats include that the framework component is frequently found in the Process division of IPTC, as the foundation on which the present work is built, and that testing methods are usually found in the Methods division of IMRD, but the Testing division of IPTC.
