ABSTRACT

With reference to the Bible, just because someone affirms that the Bible should be a supreme authority in their life it does not follow that they will read it on a daily basis. Religious identity made a significant impact on Bible use, with non-religious people being much less likely to engage with the Bible than those with a sense of religious identity. In some instances, people’s engagement with the Bible can be passive attending a wedding at which the Bible is read as part of the service. There are digital millennials who engage weekly with the Bible, and they make up 20% of the sample, demonstrating the positive qualification earlier stated. Digital millennials were also asked a similar question concerning the location of their Bible engagement. Christians were more likely to read a paper copy of the Bible, but searching for a Bible verse and reading, listening or watching a Bible passage on a digital device were also popular.
