ABSTRACT

This chapter provides insight into essential career competencies for this generation, such as complex cognitive reasoning, creativity, emotional intelligence, and social intelligence. In addition, this chapter overviews where Generation Z is looking for jobs and how they plan to get or even create them. Special attention is paid to entrepreneurship and freelancing as well as the allure of participating in the gig economy. The chapter continues with a discussion on the three career identities of Generation Z – the curator, the influencer, and the free agent – as well as the benefits and challenges in working with Generation Z employees.
