ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the methodology used to evaluate the determinants of individual innovative behavior in a high technology product development organization. It also reviews the statistical methods used to test and evaluate the six null hypotheses. The chapter discusses the measures used in this research to evaluate research parameters. The data was also evaluated using more traditional statistical methods such as correlation analysis and multiple linear regressions. The degree of innovative behavior exhibited by each subordinate was measured by their manager's/supervisor's response to six items. The six items were developed and used by Scott and Bruce in their research on the determinants of innovative behavior in a research and development organization. Scott and Bruce based the six items on the work by Kanter and personal interviews with company managers. The innovative behavior questionnaire by Scott and Bruce starts out with the following information about innovative behavior. Innovation is a process involving both the generation and implementation of ideas.
