ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 highlights the reasons why classical Jungians like Marie L. Von Franz were against the directed waking dream methodologies. They emphasise that the directed waking dream therapy approaches in contrast to active imagination centre on passivity, use of the body and interference by the therapist. However, some prominent Jungians do argue against a rigid almost orthodox view of active imagination and are more inclusive of directed waking dream principles and open to a relational view of active imagination.
