ABSTRACT

The metaphor of culture presented itself readily enough, and Jung himself had pointed to mythology as containing the imaginal forms of archetypal patterns. Development of the Dalmau Neville Archetypology Indicator (DNAI) was begun in 1991 and the task of refining it continues. The DNAI can be used without reference to archetypal theory, simply to get information about the ways in people perceive an organization that they cbserve belong to. The gods and their stories are alive in the mythical structure, which is one layer of our multi-layered consciousness. The organizational profile contains a great deal of information about the culture of the organization. The DNAI was administered in the context of a conference of a Catholic religious congregation that was meeting to review its activities and orientate itself to the future. The context in this case was an investigation of the connections between organizational culture and safety in a multinational mining and resources company.
