ABSTRACT
This chapter suggests some general strategies for programme evaluation. Mrs F. Hughes, however, broke most of the Glenn Doman-Carl Delacato rules. So Mrs Hughes had forgone almost all of the technologies advocated by the Institutes. Common sense in teaching children at any level can be reduced to sets of very simple ideas. The Coo-inda Hill Adult Centre had espoused the doctrine of 'normalisation' as disseminated by Wolf Wolfensberger, and Peter Manson joined 47 other disabled adults in learning basic life-skills. Eight case histories regarding the successful treatment of reading disability by conventional means can be found in Monroe. Treatment involved inhibiting abnormal reflexes and teaching normal movements. Standard behavioural techniques such as modelling, cueing and positive feedback were used to retrain the girl. Anecdotal case histories often make up the bulk of evidence to support the efficacy of Doman-Delacato type-procedures.
