ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book introduces some of these "new" issues, as well as some aspects of group research that we feel require attention. The book provides an introduction to the field of group research. By no means should it be considered a complete, all-inclusive reference work. It also provides a starting point for anyone who is interested in some aspect of group performance or interaction within groups. The book demonstrates the vitality and broad applicability of group research and to identify connections between academic fields that previously were not apparent. It concentrates on topics for which the scientific community has accumulated a sizable amount of data. However, there are a number of other, newer issues in group research that are still largely in the conceptual stage of development.
