ABSTRACT

Amplification method is a Tier 2 Method (T2M) used to examine whether two or more starting points can be combined to create more value for one or more of the original solutions. The aim is to increase the benefits provided by two or more (unrelated) solutions by combining them in a certain way such that the combined value is larger than the sum of the individual values, to providers and/or users. This chapter discusses 7 T3Ms organized into three categories based on the specific search variables. The single T3M in the first category does not change the functions of the original solutions and instead expands the scope of combined ending point. The two T3Ms in the second category focus on exploring functional enhancement if solutions are combined. The four T3Ms in the third category focus on combining solutions that will provide a holistic solution when organized as a single combined solution.
