ABSTRACT

This chapter concerns business administration methods and techniques and business administration research. It discusses literature study, field research and laboratory research. The literature study is often useful for a business administration researcher, when the business administration professional has to analyze a problem, to first dive into the literature in order to find out what is known about that subject or area. The chapter also provides a detailed discussion on the following business administration perspectives: the contingency perspective, contextual thinking, the power perspective, the technology perspective, the structural perspective, the systems perspective, and the learning perspective. Business administration models regularly demonstrate their usefulness. The professionals often use diverse models, for example a model of the physical structure of a business, a model for production procedures, models of information structures and object models.
