ABSTRACT

The concept of structure is inseparable from that of energy, for energy is one of those universal concepts of the modern sciences that expresses the relationship between the stability of a physical system and its capacity for activity and change, (cf. Jammers, 1957; Lindsay, 1975; Rogers, 1960; Theobald, 1966) We have therefore already had repeated occasion to refer to energy itself, and to certain related concepts, such as work, power, and efficiency.
