ABSTRACT
“Smiling and Turn-Taking” explores the lived meaning of the experiences and the demanding moods of turn-taking and repetition in some children with special needs. Chizuko Fujita is especially interested in understanding difference and sameness of the persistent smile that may or may not seem to express intentions associated with real smiling. Phenomena explored include questions such as what are meaningless verbal expressions, and when is a smile not a genuine smile?
