ABSTRACT

The second chapter starts with a brief description of the evolution of the written propaganda of Daesh. It also explains the motives behind the emergence of online periodicals, their role in the online campaign of the “Caliphate,” as well as the reasons for their eventual fall. Subsequently, it deliberates on the organisation of content and the most important themes exploited by the editors of magazines and bulletins associated with the “Caliphate” between 2014 and 2019. It debates both the official publication series, which were released at the peak of its power, such as al-Naba, Islamic State News, Dar al-Islam, and Konstantiniyye, as well as new phenomena and developments in this field since the end of 2017, including From Dabiq to Rome and Youth of the Caliphate. Particular emphasis here has been given to understanding the most important tendencies in terms of the topics exploited by Dabiq and Rumiyah.
