ABSTRACT

Improvisation is about efficiently working and creating with other actors. The success of this collaboration will often determine the success of a performance. This chapter explores the difficulties an actor can have when trying to interact with another actor. The chapter offers exercises to experiment and improve this interaction with the goal of helping actors build a satisfying and creative connection on stage. It also challenges some of the staid views of improvisation maxims like “accepting,” “make your partner look good,” and “inspire your partner.”
