ABSTRACT

Good employee morale and motivation in the workplace is very important to the well-being of any organization. Burnout can occur for a number of reasons, which can be related to either the job or personal issues away from work. Doing more with less essentially means the organization will not receive additional resources but will be expected to take on additional responsibilities. Backfill positions are intended to be filled by temporary employees while permanent employees are assigned to a short-term organizational project. For those organizations that have had problems with leadership, a change of leadership may give the organization a boost in both morale and motivation. Layoffs and terminations tend to be counterproductive to quality and quantity of work output by those employees remaining. A scandal can damage an organization’s reputation as well as morale. The morale and motivation of such an organization will diminish, and exemplary employees will begin to seek employment elsewhere.
