ABSTRACT

It was a prison. There was no question about that. Though the old college dormitory retained its unthreatening façade, once inside its purpose was unmistakable. Surveillance cameras monitored every room and hallway. Uniformed officers dutifully eyed each passerby, first scanning the ID badge and then the face. Doors buzzed as orange-suited inmates and business-casual staffers moved in and out. Paulo waited patiently in the lobby. He was there to meet a friend of a friend who had agreed to do a favor. At last he arrived.
